20.01.2005 Alive again
|
Despite all the obstacles of unemployment, the following hunger, and finally finding a new job, today we resurrect this website once again
to serve its original purpose at full. So, here we got the conference working again where we will answer any of your questions as well as you can find most of your questions already answered from discussions with other developers.
We also put up some Google's AD-s here to maintain rating of the website, hopefully, not too annoying to our visitors, because no matter what,
it's all good as long as it remains to be a free stuff via SourceForge. And remain so it will.

10.08.2004 Addressing the Nation
|
When the powers that be decimate they might call upon you to hand in a healthy grant of personal freedom. And this is what just happened to your man here.
Yep, I've just lost my job due to redundancy, to put it simply; life just happens to be full of surprises, couldn't see it coming, or being a good developer is just not
enough in this business.
I guess this means spending more time to this website or otherwise, which is not a bad thing, although in fairness, I've never been unemployed before,
so I'm looking for a job now. Got my CV here, so, Allah, Christ, Buddha, there better be someone who needs me, and it better be soon :)

22.02.2004 Becoming Open Source
|
Today the project acquired a new way of existence by joining the Open Source Community. It is in our best intentions to make the project as
widely available as possible and to gain more popularity in both commercial and non-commercial products. We also believe in giving it this way a new life open to improvements by other developers.
We are now hosted by SourceForge. More news will be available as we keep updating this website to make it purely a technical support.

Only 19 days after releasing version 1.00 of the component we are offering a new release of the component where the most important added modification is support for Windows 95/98/Me and NT4, which from now on leads us to supporting all Windows operational systems used today. Details on how this was made possible via Microsoft Layer for Unicode can be found here.
All modifications since version 1.00 are described in the Modification Log. |
|
18.05.2003 Now supporting all versions of Windows
|
Today was made available beta version 1.01 of the VXPLib component that can be used on Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP. To achieve this we used MSLU platform developed by Microsoft to run unicode applications and components on old non-unicode operational systems (read details here).
The new version is available immediately in the download area. Also a few extra modifications were made as described in the Modification Log. |
|
12.05.2003 VXPLib Version 1.00 Released !!!
|
Today the project has finally vindicated its destiny by being released as version 1.00. There were quite a few modifications and improvements since the Release Candidate version that surely improve performance of the whole library. The list of all changes can be found in the Modification Log.
From now on the library is licensed, and licenses can be bought in the purchase (obsolete link) area.
VXPLib version 1.00 Release is available in the download area now. |
|
16.04.2003 One last step before the release
|
Today VXPLib stepped out as Version 1.00 Release Candidate 1 after 1.5 year of hard development and implementing innumerous features and enhancements brought up by people who helped us testing the component in the long run, to whom we endlessly grateful, and by the logic of what seemed us the right way of the component's evolution. We are now at the countdown of days before finally releasing VXPLib. We worked our best to provide the most powerful, robust and error-free QHTML engine today. We realize that from the multitude of examples we created to illustrate how VXPLib can be used in Windows applications the most fancy ones are yet to be created by developers now after, is where the Tooltips Team wishes them best of luck. |
|
31.03.2003 Flash from the fields of code
|
Since the last enlightenment of the component it passed 6 more builds trotting in the future with even more confidence as Version 0.78 gaining new valuable features:
- Gradient Support - to put fancy graphic effects in pure-QHTML documents
- Embedded Controls - Never seen before QHTML skins to do unbelievable design tricks with User Interface
- Custom Attributes - Powerful way of parameters exchange between QHTML and client applications.
All of these as well as other new features are well covered in the Modification Log of the component. Examples of their usage are available in the download area.
Stay with us, think creatively with us. Let us push limits of your imagination

14.03.2003 Evolving VXPLib
|
With the latest version 0.72 the component was empowered by the transparency feature to allow changing transparency of all pop-up menus and the window handled via interface IVXPMenuHook. Especially effective for pop-up menus it enriches possibilities of menus and value of the component for those who mainly use it for menus.
We also added a feature in the IVXPTooltipManager interface for easier control over tooltips activation.
Modification log has been started to describe all changes made to the component after version 0.70. This log is available in the download area. |
|
22.01.2003 Extending IVXPTooltip
|
New functionality was added to the IVXPTooltip interface of VXPLib to allow any possible modification of the tooltip having access to all windows events of the tooltip window itself. Such power and flexibility of the tooltip makes it a no-rival tool for developers. All new features are now available in version 0.61 of the component. File VXPLib.h was updated as well to access all the new functions and event OnWndMsg. There will be an example later on illustrating all that can be done now with the tooltip window. In particular, client applications will be able to insert any windows control right into the tooltip window.
We just thought you might as well want to give it a go before we get around to writing a good example.

17.01.2003 Who are you?
|
Individual pictures were enabled for user profiles in the conference. It's just how much we are curious about how our visitors look. If you still haven't got a user account in our conference register now. Others can just modify their profiles to add a picture. If you do not have your own webspace to store your picture - just
the picture to us.
Hope to hear from you all in the conference very soon. We welcome all your ideas.
Cheers! |

14.01.2003 Standard and Advanced HyperLinks
|
In the most recent version of the VC++ packet we introduced an extra feature that comes for VC++ developers: Standard and Advanced Hyperlinks. Two C++ classes CHyperLink and CVXPHyperLink in the code example called HyperLinks implement standard and advanced hyperlinks accordingly. The example's source code is now available in the VC++, and its compiled version is available in the download area. By writing these two classes we were trying to bring up the idea about how the power of VXPLib can be easily extended into all areas of designing fascinating user interfaces. Download the example now. Tell us in the conference, if you liked this example.
There soon will appear an article on www.codeguru.com and perhaps www.codeproject.com called Standard and Advaced Hyperlinks with this demo program and detailed considerations. |
|
23.12.2002 Tooltips.NET vindicates its .NET
|
Ideas from developers that try to use our library do not just keep this project afloat but keep inspiring us to bringing this library to the next technological step every day. It was one of those ideas that convinced me to convert all code samples into Visual Studio.NET. I modified all VC++ 6 examples in such a way to make their conversion into VC++ 7 fully automatic using .NET project conversion wizard, and created VB.NET version of all VB6 projects to become the first part of VXPLib.NET available for downloading now.
Along the way the VXPLib.DLL component itself was improved in build 0.55 for more convenience to .NET developers.
P.S. A word from you will sustain this project enough for its existence and continuous improving. We are always waiting for your comments, ideas and suggestions. You can whether
or write into the project's conference

18.12.2002 - Multilingual Support, Menus, ...etc
|
Just two months after introducing this project we have implemented significant functionality enhancements in the library:
- Beginning with version 0.41 we added a new interface IVXPMenuHook to effectively apply all power of the VXPLib to drawing menus in Windows Applications. A whole bunch of sample applications has been written both in VB and VC++ to demonstrate the power of the new interface.
- In version 0.51 we first introduced multilingual support in the QHTML parser by using Code Pages. Now it allows to display any language, including eastern languages on MS-Windows with any base language.
- We created a sample application called Parser Test to simplify the process of designing QHTML documents. It also has templates with it to show multilingual support and events supported by the parser.
- We made available a page with screenshots, and most of the code examples now can be downloaded as EXE modules from here.
All these updates are now available in the download area. |

06.11.2002 - Source Code Issue
|
A few days passed on the wind of success with a flood of visitors that we could observe. Many showed particular interest in availability of the project's source code. Today we received a denial from www.codeproject.com to publish our article for the reason of not providing the source code along with the examples we sent. It made us again rethink the issue to find a way of making the source code available as soon as possible. We decided to ask people's opinion about it in the conference. Please, let us know what you think of it, your opinion is very important to us. |
|
28.10.2002 - Site Launch
|
We offered our work for public opinion in late October 2002 by launching this site, and publishing our first article on www.codeguru.com. We hope the project will receive your attention to justify our efforts...thanks to all for using and testing.
The author also thanks everyone who in the long 1.5 year of development contributed in the project with their ideas and suggestions, mainly programmers like myself from www.codeguru.com and www.codeproject.com
It is now the path of perfection that our project has to go along, and the more
we get from you the faster we will be able to release the project. |
